Hi everyone! hows your day today? Mine is just fine.
My share for today is Poinsettia, scientific name is Euphorbia pulcherrima. When I was small I call this flower Christmas flower because I saw this only during Christmas as one of the decor of I think every house! hehehe.
Did you know that the red that we see which look like a flower is a leaf of Poinsettia. Yeah! are actually called bracts. Poinsettia flowers are small, green or yellow, and grow in the center of each leaf bunch.
So thats it! Happy Red day!
The poinsettia's pretty cool, isn't it? Here in Canada, we associate it with Christmas, too, because it only blooms in December. However, it's native to Mexico, which is a lot warmer than we are!
ReplyDeleteyeah right, poinsettia reminds us of christmas. i think it's because this only blossoms during that season.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did know that the red is a leaf. They're so cool. I saw some that were TREE size in Old Mexico once and fell in love with them.
